Bowel health

OVERVIEW
Consultant Gastroenterologist
Your Preventicum Doctor may recommend a consultation with Dr Sean Preston, Consultant Gastroenterologist, for a colonoscopy. Colonoscopy is considered to be the gold standard for colorectal screening and can be used to detect polyps which could be cancerous. Polyps and bowel cancer can develop without symptoms so screening and early detection is vital for effective treatment.
In an initial consultation, your eligibility to have a colonoscopy will be determined and you will be advised of the preparation needed ahead of the procedure. Following your colonoscopy you will have another consultation with Dr Preston to review your results and discuss the further management of any findings. If you are not eligible for a colonoscopy, you will be advised to have an in-person consultation with a Gastroenterologist to determine the appropriate next steps.
