Meet our Consultant Clinical Geneticist
If you have a family history of cancer and are concerned about your future risk, or if you have a particular interest in your genetic profile, your Preventicum Doctor will discuss referring you to our Consultant Clinical Geneticist, Dr Anju Kulkarni.
In an initial online consultation, you will have a detailed discussion with Dr Kulkarni about your family and personal medical history to determine if, and what type of, genetic testing is appropriate.
Dr Kulkarni has over 20 years of clinical experience and focuses on cancer prevention through genetic testing and counselling. A personalised risk assessment paired during a compassionate consultation will help you make informed decisions about managing inherited cancer risks, or if you have already had genetic testing, can help you interpret your results and guide you on current and future health decisions.
What happens if Dr Kulkarni recommends genetic testing?
If Dr Kulkarni determines that genetic testing is suitable for you, you will discuss which tests are appropriate, what genes will be tested and the possible implications of these results. Your genes will then be tested by an accredited laboratory that specialises in hereditary cancer tests. Once complete. you will have a follow-up consultation with Dr Kulkarni during which she will explain the results in detail and discuss their implications for you and your family.
What is the price of a consultation with Dr Kulkarni?
An initial 45-minute virtual consultation with Dr Kulkarni is £350 with 30-minute follow-up appointments priced at £200. Dr Kulkarni is recognised by most major insurance providers.
